Karla Bakery is proud of its long-established family tradition. Our history and caring experience is what distinguishes our products and has rightfully earned us a reputation for creating Miami’s finest pastries.
The Gonzalez family began developing its recipes in Cuba, when brothers Benny, Alfredo and Israel joined forces to evolve the art of making delicious pastries and confectioneries. When the brothers were separated for a few years by the political turmoil in their native homeland, each continued to develop and formulate tasty products on their own. During that time, they were honored with numerous distinctions for their excellence and creativity, and Benny was specifically granted an Honorary Membership in the American Culinary Federation and also received several awards presented by the Fraternity of Executive Chefs of the State of Nevada.
In 1984 Benny also received the singular distinction of being selected to make a birthday cake in honor of then US President Ronald Reagan.
The brothers were again reunited in the United States; and, three generations later when Miguel (Benny’s son) and Karla -- for whom the business is named -- Gonzalez opened their first Miami-based store in 1989, their hard work and dedication earned them the realization of the successful American dream. Since then, Karla Bakery has evolved into one of South Florida’s premiere pastry and confectionary businesses, serving their clients from multiple convenient locations.
Today, Miguel and Karla’s son, Ariel, manages the day-to-day operations and maintains the Gonzalez family traditions. Karla herself is very active in the business and also serves as the main source of inspiration for her family to continue developing new delicious creations as well as maintain the highest standards of authenticity, excellence and quality control. It’s no wonder Karla Bakery is renowned for their outstanding products and customer service; and, continues the long-established generational family tradition of creating Miami’s finest pastries.
